Gantt Lake - The River Falls Power Company constructed Gantt Dam in the 1920s, but it is now operated by PowerSouth for hydropower generation. In March, 1929 at the time of the great flood in South Alabama, the wooden spillway in the Gantt Dam was washed away along with the earth embankment of the Point "A" Dam. Gantt Lake covers a reservior with a surface area of about 2747 acres and a usable storage capacity of 14,645 acre-feet at a normal pool elevation of 198 feet mean sea level. There is 21 miles of shoreline, ©2008 Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. You can travel up the north end of the lake and enjoy the beautiful cypress trees to the Conecuh River. There are 2 boat ramps.
