GANTT LAKE, ANDALUSIA, ALABAMA

Welcome:

Kick off your shoes and relax in sunshine.  Enjoy boating, great fishing, swimming and water-skiing in the area’s two beautiful lakes.

Gantt Lake - The River Falls Power Company constructed Gantt Dam in the 1920s, but it is now operated by PowerSouth for hydropower generation.  It is a 2700 acre lake.  You can travel approximately 8 miles by boat from the Dam north, and there is 21 miles of shoreline, ©2008 Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.  You can travel up the north end of the lake to the Conecuh River.  There are beautiful cypress trees along the north end of the lake.  There is 1 restaurant (The Buckboard) on the water, 2 boat ramps and 1 store with gas.

Fishing -  Largemouth bass can be taken around the grassbeds and cypress trees that are found in the numerous sloughs and coves off the main lake.   Steep walls along the old river channel can be the most productive for crappie, which are usually taken on live minnows.

Point A LakePoint A Reservoir was impounded in the 1920s mainly to supply electrical power to local sawmills. The reservoir is still operated for hydropower generation, as well as swimming, boating, and fishing. The lake is mainly fished by local anglers for bass, bream, crappie, and catfish.  It is a 700 acre lake. With a Lodge, 2 boat ramps, and a picnic area. There are miles of open water that you may travel up the Patsaliga River for fishing or an afternoon boat ride. There is also Point-A-RV Park
